Halal Eats as recommended by Tokyo Family Stays Intern

Post by Spring 2026 TFS Intern - Sami

As a Muslim eating healthy halal food because it is deeply connected to both their faith and overall well-being. In Islam, food is not just about taste or convenience — it is about cleanliness, balance, and mindfulness. Halal guidelines require meat to be prepared in a humane and hygienic way, and Muslims are encouraged to avoid harmful or impure substances. This naturally promotes a healthier lifestyle, focusing on quality ingredients, moderation, and gratitude for what is consumed. For many Muslims living in Tokyo, finding halal food is also about feeling comfortable and confident that what they are eating aligns with their religious values while still enjoying flavorful and diverse meals.

In areas like Shinjuku, Shibuya, Ueno, and Akihabara, there are many casual halal spots that make it easier to eat both affordably and well. Restaurants such as Halal Master Chicken, Halal Restaurant Honolulu Grande Akihabara, and Sankyu Halal Ramen Japanese Food Ueno offer hearty ramen, chicken and rice, and Japanese dishes at reasonable prices. The popular chain HALAL WAGYU RAMEN SHINJUKU-TEI serves rich wagyu ramen in multiple neighborhoods, while budget-friendly curry options like Tokyo Halal Indian Restaurant and Halal Japanese Curry Yoshi's Passion provide filling meals around ¥1,000–2,000. From halal burgers to curry and even wagyu sandwiches, Muslims in Tokyo can maintain a healthy halal diet without sacrificing flavor or breaking their budget.

Here are some of my recommendations

Casual Halal Eats & Ramen

Halal Master Chicken - Popular Muslim-friendly chicken and rice/fast-casual spot with hearty portions at a good price.

Halal Restaurant Honolulu Grande Akihabara - Halal ramen and casual Japanese dishes you can enjoy for around ¥1,000–2,000.

Sankyu Halal Ramen Japanese Food Ueno - Highly rated Halal ramen spot near Ueno, great if you want a quick, cheap meal.

Tokyo Halal Deli & Café – Cafe-style Halal food, sandwiches, light lunch options around ¥1,000.

Halal Wagyu karemen king – Slightly higher price (~¥2,000–3,000), but great Halal curry/ramen fusion.

Halal Ramen Chain (Great Value)

HALAL WAGYU RAMEN SHINJUKU-TEI Tokyo Shinjuku,

HALAL WAGYU RAMEN SHINJUKU-TEI Asakusa Tokyo,

Halal Wagyu Ramen Shinjuku-Tei Ginza Tokyo,

HALAL WAGYU RAMEN SHINJUKU-TEI Tokyo Shibuya – This popular ramen chain offers flavorful halal wagyu broth and noodles. Prices are usually somewhat higher than fast food but still reasonable for a sit-down meal (~¥1,500–2,500).

We haven’t linked the others but they are all the same chain.

Budget-Friendly Indian & Curry

Tokyo Halal Indian restaurant – Indian cuisine in Tokyo with halal options (curries and rice) at decent prices.

Halal Japanese Curry Yoshi's Passion – Curry house with halal options, a good flavorful meal in Asakusa.

There are other options listed here.

Halal Burger / Western-Style

Japanese food Wagyu Restaurant (Halal) Steak&Burger-Ramen 5W-Tokyo Akihabara Ueno Beef Dining – Halal burgers and casual fare — a slightly more filling treat.

Japanese Wagyu Beef Sandwich & Pizza Steak (Halal Vegan) Ginza Restaurant Beef Tei – Halal beef sandwiches and more (mid-range price).

There are Middle Eastern/Indian halal options and small kebab/curry shops scattered in neighborhoods like Shinjuku, Shibuya, Ueno, and Akihabara.

For very cheap eats, some halal-friendly curry and kebab places in areas like Shin-Okubo’s “Islam Street” offer meals around ¥1,000 or less.
