My Perfect Day in Tokyo

Hi, I’m Ben and I’m here to tell you about my perfect day in Tokyo as a 13-year-old.

To be honest there were many highlights on my trip to Tokyo including going to the Pokémon Centre in Shibuya and going to some amazing shops in Ginza but I’m not here to yap about how fun my whole holiday was, I’m here to tell you about my perfect day in Tokyo.

First of all, I woke up in the beautiful AirBnb Cabin (North Cottage) greeted by the hostess Tracey from Tokyo Family Stays who gave us some great tips on what to do that day when going to Akihabara. Then my mum and I set off on our 2-minute walk to the Sangubashi station where we caught a short train to Asakusa. After we arrived in Asakusa we swiftly walked to Sensoji Temple where we took a top-notch photo in front of the famous big lantern then we walked through beautiful gardens and finally made our way up to the main temple where we paid our respects to the monks. After that we met up with some family friends from back home in Australia at the Asakusa Samuri-Ninja Museum. The Samuri-Ninja Museum was a highlight. We learnt about the Japanese feudal system, spectacular history about Samuri’s and Ninja’s and even got to do a Ninja star throwing competition where my mate won a prize.

The next highlight of the day was when we took a short walk from the Samuri-Ninja Museum to the Asakusa Sumo Club where we got a seat in the front row and enjoyed a chicken hot pot or chanko nabe (typical sumo food!). The Sumo show was awesome, there were many sumo skills and sumo bouts. It was very funny and enjoyable to me and my mate and at the end you could volunteer to fight one of the sumo wrestlers!

After finishing the show, me and my mum journeyed off to Akihabara which was an absolute tech paradise, with the first store you see when coming out of the train station is one of the largest tech stores (Yodabashi Camera) in the entire world. I really enjoyed Akihabara by journeying around to all of the local Pokémon shops to see if I could find any merchandise that I would like to buy. By that time, I was pretty exhausted so we decided to go back to our lovely rental and end the Perfect day for me as a 13-year-old around Tokyo!
