We loved staying at the Koenji house! We stayed with our two young kids, as well as our mother and the house was great for our multi-generational family. The location was super convenient: train super close, a real grocery store, and a great local scene to explore within Koenji too! We made use of the pack 'n play for our youngest, and also used the compact stroller that was in the house as well. There was a baby gate, which we didn't use but honestly really great to have because there are a lot of stairs and they are pretty steep/narrow in the house itself. The hosts were very responsive and easy to communicate with. We will definitely book with them again if/when we come back to Japan!
We are so happy you enjoyed your stay. You are awesome guests so please come back and stay next time you're in Tokyo.
Can't say enough nice things about this house and location. We traveled with a 1 year old and 10 year old and it was perfect for us. The train station is just a couple of blocks away. Super easy to get to Shinjuku and from there anywhere else you need to go. There is a grocery store at the train station and tons of restaurants in the area. There is a coin laundry not far so you can wash and dry clothes (if the weather is bad and you can't hang clothes to dry at the house. There is only a washer at the house.). The house itself was extremely comfortable. They thought of everything you might need, even umbrellas, a stroller, travel crib (we didn't use but noted it is in the house), toys. The hosts were helpful and attentive. Highly recommend booking this house!
We are thrilled you enjoyed your stay with us. Please come back on your next visit.
My two daughters and I had a fabulous stay at the Kita-Koenji house. We are longtime residents of Tokyo, so we know how great this location is, only 3 mins’ walk to Koenji station, which is on the express Chuo line directly into the city centre. There is a 7-11 just across the street, and a wonderful little shopping street with cool little restaurants. Koenji has everything you could want. The house itself is spacious, spread over 3 floors, and immaculately clean. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need, including complimentary tea, coffee, and condiments/cooking essentials. There are 3 double beds, all very comfy, with nice bedding and proper pillows, and it’s nice to have a separate living room with a queen-sized sofa bed downstairs. They thought of every detail. We wish we had found it on day one of our stay! Tracey and Ash were very responsive and super accommodating, making this a hassle-free and extremely comfortable stay. Cannot recommend them highly enough! Would stay again in a heartbeat. It is especially good for large groups or families, although there were only three of us.
Thanks for the great review. It was a pleasure to host you all. Hope to see you again.
I recently stayed at Koenji House with Tokyo Family Stays, and I can’t recommend it highly enough. From the moment we arrived, the property instantly felt like home. Unlike staying in a hotel, you feel like you're truly part of the local community, especially with the responsibility of everyday tasks like following the rubbish collection schedule. The house was cosy but spacious enough for our group—my partner, two young children (aged 2 and 4), and their grandmother. Having a fully functioning Japanese kitchen was a huge bonus, as it allowed us to prepare meals when needed, and the laundry facilities were a great convenience. The beds, located on the 2nd and 3rd floors, were super comfortable, ensuring we all had a restful stay. Ash was an amazing host. He met us on the first day, gave us a tour of the area and the property, and was always available if we needed any help. His knowledge and hospitality made us feel very welcome. The Koenji area itself is fantastic. It offers great food, music, and shopping options while still being quiet enough to make you forget you're in one of the world’s largest cities. The locals were incredibly friendly and helpful, and getting around was a breeze, with the train station just a 3-minute walk from the accommodation. I can't wait to return and will definitely be booking through Tokyo Family Stays again. Thank you again, Ash and Tracey, for an unforgettable stay!
So happy that you had a great time - we loved hosting you too. Please come back and stay if you are back in Tokyo again.
Thank you to Tracey and Ash for their communication - from booking and throughout our stay, they gave us information, contacts, suggestions, and made us feel welcomed. The place is a few minutes from Koenji station, which was nice because it was very hot when we visited. The area is full of affordable restaurants and great choice of grocery/convenient stores, even a bath house nearby! Safe environment and so nice to spread out! Thank you for your hospitality, we will highly recommend you and hope to be back!!
We absolutely loved our stay in Koenji! Despite being a fairly hot time of year, the house stayed cool and comfortable thanks to the new air conditioning throughout. The house had everything we needed - well stocked kitchen, comfortable living space, washing machine and two bathrooms. The beds are super comfy and the curtains kept the room nice and dark. The house is in a great area, on a very quiet street. It's a 2 min walk to shops, lovely restaurants and the train station. Koenji has quite a cool atmosphere at night too but less chaotic that bigger districts. The quieter train station made it much easier to get acquainted with the ticketing and rail line system. Ashley and Tracey were incredibly helpful, offering suggestions for places to visit and eat which were all spectacular. Would absolutely recommend Koenji House and Tokyo Family Stays, thanks team!
We are very grateful to Tracey and Ashley for recommending Koenji House for our stay in Tokyo. It turned out to be the perfect house and neighborhood for our family. Our teens enjoyed their 3rd floor bedroom and 2nd floor living room while we parents “hung out” more on the first floor. That amount of space and separation is rare in Japanese lodgings and we appreciated it so much during our three week stay. Koenji was a great neighborhood with many restaurants and shops. The nearby train station also made it easy to access much of Tokyo and take day trips via Shinjuku station. We would love to stay here again when we return to Japan.
We stayed for ten days, it was great. Lively location close to the subway yet very quiet.
We organised our 1-month Tokyo stay last minute and were so lucky to come across Tokyo Family Stays and be able to get the Koenji House. The house is ideally located and designed for discovering the city. Very comfortable, incredibly quiet, well equipped so nothing is missing for a cosy family life in Tokyo. The familystays people Ashley and Tracey are very caring and make sure you are safe and comfortable all the way through your stay, they are reactive to any question you might ask. Koenji is one of the cutest "village" in Tokyo, minutes from the main city hubs (the Chuo express line is one of the most practical train lines) while retaining its spirit with shrines, food and clothes shops, bars, musical clubs. There was no shadows and our stay was optimal, thanks again Ashley & Tracey.
We are so grateful you chose to stay with us in Koenji House. Thank you. We welcome you back when you are next in Tokyo.
Our family of 4 (2 adults 2 teenagers) stayed at Kita-Koenji in mid-December for 3 nights and it was fantastic. You couldn't ask for a better location! Literally a 2-minute flat walk from the train station with restaurants, convenience stores, clothing shops and a mini-department store at your fingertips. The house was very comfortable with a well appointed kitchen having all the essential utensils etc for meal prep. It is a cute 3 level house with good bedroom separation (we'd been living in the same room everywhere else we'd travelled in Japan so that was a nice change), laundry, Japanese style bathroom with large soaking tub (or you can just have showers next to the bath), two toilets and air conditioning. It had plenty of space for a Japanese house so you can open up your suitcases or use the deep built-in robes and cupboards. Tracey and Ash are very accommodating giving us some great tips on where to go, and advice about getting around the area and the city. In terms of access to other parts of Tokyo we found the location incredibly central with easy access to the JR lines and moments from all the major sight seeing places in Tokyo. The area has a "hipster" vibe too so you really feel like you're immersed in the local community. All in all an outstanding holiday house. We're looking forward to our next visit.
